Women of all ages and stages of life are increasingly seeking alternatives to hormonal contraception. In fact, a growing dearth of evidence-based research supporting FABMs, also commonly known as Natural Family Planning (NFP), has developed far beyond the rhythm method popularized in the 1940s. Whether your interest in natural methods of fertility care are theological or medicinal, this webinar will introduce you to a variety of Fertility Awareness Based Methods (FABMs) and highlight their benefits and effectiveness. The HHS Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives and the Office of Population Affairs are co-hosting the first installment of the Family Health Webinar Series, highlighting the benefits of FABMs for avoiding or achieving pregnancy, regulating menopause, and utilizing your cycle as a tool to diagnose other health concerns, such as endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, or cervical cancer, among others. Dr. Marguerite Duane, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Fertility Appreciation Collaborative to Teach the Science (FACTS) and Adjunct Associate Professor at Georgetown University, will present an Introduction to Fertility Awareness: The Signs of the Female Cycle Explained. This webinar covers the science of a woman’s cycle, the applications and benefits of using FABMs for optimal health, and the effectiveness of FABMs for family planning. Webinar Date: June 12, 2019
