This is a little tour of my 3D printer design which I call Monkey Shit Fight. Why call it Monkey Shit Fight? Because I can. I removed a couple hundred parts that are used in other traditional designs. I also created two new methods to drive all three axis with greater accuracy which simplify production and stability. You will find no threaded rods, no chunks of plastic and no nuts or washers in the frame....this is held together with eight wood screws. The entire machine is under tension with 150 pound Kevlar line to keep everything in alignment. the gantry is fully adjustable with very simple methods to square everything up. It isn't designed to be a folding RepRap but it can be folded up and transported very easily by loosening the turnbuckles and popping the X,Z assembly out and laying it down. All four frame parts are the same dimensions. There are only two of each frame part. Two for the Y axis rods and two for the Z axis. My modifications to the design are free for anyone to use for non commercial use under the creative commons GPL licence. I'm currently in negotiations with a couple manufacturers to produce a kit. I have abandoned the Reprap philosophy of a self replicating machine in favor of simplicity and stability. This machine was designed and built while listening to music from the band CAKE. Subscribe to see upcoming videos as I design and test the parts for the laser-cut kit version. I will also be doing a tour of my work area and showing where I got my materials. And click on an ad while you are here, if you want to see this available as a kit I gotta make some cash. The build area is about 250 by 350 by 200 millimeters but I got it dialed down to match the heated bed till I can make a bigger one. All work was done with simple hand tools. The most exotic tools used were a Dremel a cheap drill press and a ancient one speed hand drill. Click an ad and subscribe please...I'm totally serious about that shit.
