Tantra presents a swift path to the state of Buddhahood, an alluring prospect to many Dharma practitioners. Yet its basis is Sutrayana, the collection of Buddha’s teachings that reveal a steady and graduated path to enlightenment–like the one mapped out in the lamrim texts. Practicing tantra is made possible only through a solid foundation in essential Dharma teachings such as renunciation, great compassion or bodhichitta, and the wisdom realizing emptiness. This is the first event in a weekend series on a thorough introduction to tantra, and is open to all levels of practitioners. Feel free to join any session, but you may get a fuller understanding by attending the whole program.
