How and Where to File a Complaint Against a Negligent Doctor

Many of us have felt cheated by our healthcare providers at some point in our life. It can be financial, or in terms of quality of treatment. And although, information is available at our fingertips today, when it comes to fighting against medical negligence, we are always at a loss. Here are four different legal options of seeking justice from a negligent healthcare professional, hospital, or agency. There are two ways in which you can be wronged by a doctor. Civil wrong and Criminal Wrong. The lines between these two categories are a little blurry, but broadly, Civil Wrong means anything that a doctor does without any actual criminal intention. Anything from an error of judgment in the treatment, shoddy surgical work, etc can come under civil wrong. Criminal wrong is anything that is done with criminal or malicious intent. Although just because something is done without criminal intent, gross negligence can still be considered criminal. If there is a civil injustice, you have the option of seeking justice in form of compensation, either in the civil court, or the consumer court. But If you think you have been the victim of a criminal wrong, you can also file an FIR against the doctor/hospital in your local police station at the same time.
