Goliath is the new studio album by the legendary thrash metal band Exodus, released on March 20, 2026 by Napalm Records. It is the band's 13th studio album, marking an important return: it's their first work with vocalist Rob Dukes since Exhibit B: The Human Condition (2010), after years with Steve "Zetro" Souza on vocals. The album was produced by the band themselves, with mixing and mastering by Mark Lewis (known for his work with Whitechapel, Nile, Undeath, etc.), and is described as the most collaborative in Exodus's more than 40-year career. Several tracks feature songwriting contributions from different members (such as Lee Altus, Gary Holt, Rob Dukes, and Tom Hunting), and there are notable guest appearances: Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy / Pain) on "The Changing Me," and Katie Jacoby (violinist) with 18 layers of strings on the title track "Goliath," adding a dramatic contrast between pure horror and moments of beauty. The album has 10 tracks in total and is often described as a blend of classic, aggressive thrash metal with more diverse and experimental moments. The band promises crushing riffs, relentless energy, and an authenticity reminiscent of their legacy since Bonded by Blood (1985), but with evolution—some call it a furious "return to form," while others note more adventurous and less linear touches than the previous two albums. Initial reactions vary: there's praise for the heaviness, the ferocity of the opening, and the courage to experiment (especially in the doom-ish title track), but also criticism from more radical fans who feel it's not "crushing" enough compared to expectations. Overall, it seems to be a work that divides opinions, but reinforces Exodus' status as one of the most consistent and influential forces in thrash metal. If you enjoy old-school thrash with hints of modernity, extra heaviness, and even an almost doom-like touch at times, Goliath seems worthwhile—especially with the return of Rob Dukes bringing his classic vocal aggression. Tomorrow (March 20, 2026) the album is officially released, so the hype is at its peak!
