Presented by Abby Chen, Head of Contemporary Art and Curator for Kongkee: Warring State Cyberpunk at Asian Art Museum "When Kongkee: Warring State Cyberpunk (Wrightwood 659, April 14-July 15, 2023) premiered in San Francisco, it set the record attendance for the Asian Art Museum. An ambitious effort to invigorate the museum’s archeology collection, Artist Kongkee reimagined an android with Qu Yuan’s memory to continue the poet’s inquiry of universe and humanity in the increasingly algorithmic world. By juxtaposing animation, sound, and site-specific display for objects of the Warring State period, the audience found an alternative future that existed in the past.
