Mykhailo Panets, an 87-year-old shepherd, has dedicated his entire life to herding sheep on the picturesque Carpathian slopes. Since his youth, he worked in the collective farms, milking sheep alongside other shepherds and crafting traditional cheeses. His journey as a shepherd wasn’t easy—he often had to defend his flock from wolves and bears that attacked. Today, Mykhailo still cares for his farm, which includes 70 sheep, 30 goats, a cow, a horse, pigs, and chickens. He handles it all by himself, with occasional help from his son, while his grandson looks up to him, inspired by his dedication to this demanding life. Kind-hearted, cheerful, and tireless, he embodies the true spirit of a Carpathian shepherd.
