On March 14th, Bay Area activists from the grassroots network Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) take to the streets in Berkeley to demand an end to animal agriculture that contributes to several problematic issues, such as unchecked human rights abuses on the workers, our current climate crisis, and more. According to the event posted on Facebook and IndyBay, "trillions of animals are being killed. The climate crisis is accelerating faster than ever. Workers, consumers and the general public are being exploited for profit by powerful industries who corrupt governments....This is why on March 14th we will #UniteForLiberation with activists around the world for a collective protest, broadcasted live." DxE invited activists to meet at the Crescent Lawn at 11:30AM for their Unite For Liberation: It's Not Food, It's Violence event. From there activists walked a short distance to a fairly busy shopping area on Shattuck Avenue to host their vigil, which included several speeches and first-hand accounts of animal abuse and rescue from activists.
