Welcome to Day 40 of The 180‑Day Bible Journey — a daily walk through Scripture designed to deepen understanding and strengthen faith. Today’s Reading: 📖 Numbers 20–21 📖 Psalm 40 📖 Mark 16 📘 Scripture Summaries Numbers 20–21 • Miriam dies in Kadesh • Israel complains again — this time about water • Moses, frustrated by the people, strikes the rock instead of speaking to it • God still provides water, but Moses is judged and barred from entering the Promised Land • Lesson: Obedience must be precise — partial obedience is still disobedience • Israel connects victory with obedience: the Canaanites are defeated • When they complain again, God sends venomous snakes • Moses lifts up a bronze serpent — whoever looks at it lives • Israel defeats the Amorites and travels toward Moab • God provides water and victory even when the people fail • Balak hires Balaam to curse Israel. • Balaam is driven by greed, yet he still recognizes that he cannot act without God’s permission. • The angel of the Lord blocks Balaam’s path, revealing that gifts without obedience become dangerous. • Balaam learns that God’s approval is required before any action, even when opportunities look appealing. • God protects His people even when unseen spiritual forces are at work. Theme: God is faithful even when His people complain or fail, but obedience determines how we experience His promises. Psalm 40 • David praises God for lifting him out of the pit • God puts a new song in his mouth • David celebrates God’s faithfulness, righteousness, and mercy • He asks for forgiveness and protection • He acknowledges his neediness — yet God is his help and deliverer Theme: God is faithful to the poor, the needy, the sinful, and the broken — His mercy never fails. Mark 16 • Jesus rises from the dead • The women find the empty tomb and are told to tell the disciples and Peter • Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene and two others • He rebukes the disciples for unbelief • He commissions them: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” • Signs will follow those who believe • Jesus ascends to heaven and sits at the right hand of God Theme: The resurrection is the foundation of our mission — we are sent because He is risen. Key Themes • Obedience matters — even small deviations have consequences • God remains faithful even when we complain, doubt, or fail • Healing comes from looking to God, not ourselves • God restricts what gifted people can do without His approval • The risen Christ sends us into the world with authority and purpose 🧠 Memory Verse Mark 16:15 — “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” #BibleJourney #180DayBibleJourney #Numbers20 #Psalm40 #Mark16 #LookAndLive #HeIsRisen #ObedienceMatters 🙏 Join the Journey Subscribe and walk with us daily as we explore the entire Bible in 180 days.
