These seven boulders cover three corners of the state of Oklahoma. Many of these are new, forgotten, or neglected; and all of them are moderates. Consensus grades are still not a thing around here, so don't trust the grades below :) We Be Jammin' - V5 This new splitter crack is located on Happy Lake in Claremore, OK. I was lucky enough to flash it and be able to keep my feet on the shelf almost the entire time. Its a good climb, bring a brush! Sleet Roof - V3 This reclusive and rare roof climb is located in the back of the Desperate Reality area in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The big holds and big move make it a lot of fun! This was featured in the new Refuge Bouldering guidebook annnnd I was lucky enough to flash this one as well. Between Two Ferns - V2 This must do line is only a "must do" because of the amazing hard line directly to it's left. You must do it to warm up. But the warm up is not lacking quality. The movement and height make this line pretty solid. I may have the only ascent (OA) of this one for now. This is located in The Median at Robbers Cave Stake Park. Legend of Ron Burgundy - V5 This forgotten line was once said to be the best boulder in the area. It is hard to see why. It's short, dirty, and cruel. But after climbing it, I realized that it was super rewarding and it really packed a punch. This is located on the back of the Truck Boulder in Shotgun, Sand Springs, OK. Black Scratch - V4 This one is a classic! Definitely one of the oldest boulders in the state. Thin face climbing leads to a big move off bad hands. Due to its age, the starting position has been lost in time. Choosing where to start can change the difficulty quickly, however the real juice is the last move. This climb is located in the Entrance Boulders at Baldy Point in Quartz Mountain State Park. Roadside Renegade - V2 This new line is quality! From the road you can see a striking line on a freakishly tall looking boulder. But once you get pads underneath it, it shrinks up. Good movement on interesting holds. Located in The Median of Robbers Cave State Park. Don't sleep on this one. Wolves Eat Onions - V3 My friends first FA! This boulder marked the start of a new age of development in the Refuge. Located in an onion patch in the Desperate Reality area, this obvious line has the perfect amount of holds to be climbed. In fact, as a hiker I found this boulder and wished to climb it; only to find out later that my friend had beaten me to it. I was lucky enough to flash this one as well!
