Farewell to the Old Adelaide Aquatic Centre!

The Adelaide Aquatic Centre originally opened in December 1969 as an outdoor complex. It underwent significant upgrades throughout the decades including a huge enclosure building in 1985 followed by Polynesian inspired theme leisure pools in the turn of the 1990s. The two later pools were then remodelled and merged as one in 2014. Due to its deteriorating structural features (e.g. the viewing terraces by the original pools), it was announced that a brand new centre would be built just south of the older building which is to be opened in late 2025/early 2026. The original centre finally closed its doors for the final time in July 2024 and inventory auctioned off shortly after, following demolition.
