In this video, I added 200 ml of Rubbing alcohol (99%) with tap water (300 ml) to a 1 L flask. Stirred for a bit. I weighed out 3.25 g of Indigo carmine 99% and add it to the beaker while stirring. Then I added 7.14 g of Gum guar as a thickening agent. Stirring and adding these chemicals made a thick paste that will be good for painting. For Part 2 I will be testing this pigment with other dyes to see what results I can get. I shall pipette both Indigo carmine and other dyes on Paper on a slant (probably) as a method for part 2. When I have time I will show the properties of this dye. Indigo carmine with a 39.6% Isopropyl alcohol solution where the rest is water makes an interesting pigment. I want a thicker pigment with gum guar. I have never tried this but it shows promise. Indigo Carmine is toxic and irritating to the skin and eyes so be careful I recommend wearing PPE (gloves and goggles) or a face shield. This material is also slightly flammable as well.
