Seismic structural geology in complex tectonic environments has made great strides over the past 20 years. A range of dedicated software tools allow outcrop geology and seismic data to be interpreted and modelled. With increasing computational power seismic processing in regions with large velocity contrasts and steep dips has improved imaging in onshore fold and thrust belts. The aim of the talk is to introduce seismic data is, how it is processed and interpreted. As structural geologist we can help ensure that the processing and interpretation produce geologically valid Interpretations and models. We will work hard to keep the jargon to a minimum so you can go ask the killer dumb question the next time you see some seismic.
