Branch Creek Bellthorpe National Park

On the southern side of Bellthorpe National Park, Stoney Creek runs out to the south west. There is a day recreation area on the creek, accessed by Fletcher Road, that has large rock pools favoured by people for a cool swim on hot days. There are two close swimming holes, one a little upstream of the carpark, one downstream. Branch Creek runs into the lower swimming hole on the right. This walk is going up Branch Creek, rockhopping and rock scrambling. This was my first time up the creek, and I would probably choose a different route through some of the choke points next time. Made it look harder than it was. I stopped video recording when I needed both hands for climbing, and also when swimming was the only way onwards. I returned back downstream, and found I was able to favour the western side for an easier line. I didn't put winter swim in the title, but there are many options as you go up the creek.
