Hiking the Decalibron 14ers loop near Alma, Colorado

We hiked the Decalibron loop in early February 2026 to help my brother-in-law and another friend check off four new 14ers. The Decalibron is named after the four 14,000-foot peaks (Mount Democrat, Mount Cameron, Mount Lincoln, and Mount Bross) and is located near the small town of Alma, about 20 minutes south of Breckenridge, Colorado. Despite the challenge from the high elevation, it is an easy hike on good trails throughout the route. Most years would have a lot more snow on the route in February, but this year's record-low snowpack in Colorado made it nearly like summer conditions. And during the summer, it is a very popular hike.
