Dr. Linda Mollno, emerita lecturer in History at Cal Poly Pomona, outlines how the end of WWI led to WWII—politically, socially, and culturally— impacted Europe and its people. Dr. Mollno’s interest in WWII stems from her father’s participation as an officer in the British Royal Army, who survived D-Day and was later injured in the Battle of Caen. Among the topics discussed are the growth of nationalism in Germany, weakness of the League of Nations and European governments in response to Hitler’s flagrant violations of the Treaty of Versailles, European resistance, Kristallnacht, work camps and concentration camps.
