Clear Creek Upper & Lower Beaver Falls | POV Cataraft Rafting (Idaho Springs, CO) POV cataraft run through Upper Beaver Falls and Lower Beaver Falls on Clear Creek near Idaho Springs, Colorado. Filmed from the rower’s seat in a 13’ Aire Wave Destroyer cataraft with a Class IV frame setup. These two back-to-back rapids mark the true entrance to the Kermits / Upper Canyon section and deliver some of the most technical moves on the run right out of the gate. Upper Beaver Falls demands immediate commitment, typically featuring a left-side boof or a precise line down the center tongue depending on flow. Lower Beaver Falls follows closely, requiring a controlled, centered entrance before cutting left through pushy, technical whitewater. At medium to higher flows, both rapids are fast, unforgiving, and set the tone for everything downstream. 📍 River: Clear Creek (Kermits / Upper Canyon Section) 📍 Location: Idaho Springs, Colorado 📅 Date: June 7, 2024 🚣♂️ Boat & Setup: • 13’ Aire Wave Destroyer • Class IV Frame • Sawyer Oars • Astral PFD • WRSI Helmet • Immersion Research Drysuit • Adidas Terrex Shoes • Pelican Case • River Station Throw Bag • NRS Straps 🌊 Rapids Featured: Upper & Lower Beaver Falls — the opening sequence of the Kermits / Upper Canyon run and two of the most consequential rapids on Clear Creek. These stacked Class IV drops demand clean lines, decisive moves, and solid boat control, especially at higher flows. Both rapids are easily scouted from the road, but mistakes here can compound quickly with very limited room for recovery. 🎶 Music: Phish — Fuego Live at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park Commerce City, CO — September 2, 2017 🎥 Filmed POV on GoPro Filmed from the rower’s seat in a cataraft — this is why CATillac exists.
