As a millennium old temple, Chengdu Wenshu monastery not only has a profound historical and cultural heritage, but has been destroyed and repaired several times and still stands on the fertile land of Chengdu. Wenshu monastery is the only Buddhist Holy Land in the downtown area of Chengdu. It is located in the central area of the downtown area of Chengdu and has a history of more than 1400 years. It is one of the three Big History and cultural reserves in the downtown area of Chengdu. It is backed by Xima Road Street, south of Wenshuyuan Street, west of Renmin Middle Road, and east of Wenshuyuan Lane and Fushan Lane, covering an area of over 90 acres; It is a key Chinese language Buddhist temple designated by the State Council, the first of the "Four Great Zen Forests" in the Yangtze River Basin of China, a key cultural relic protection unit in Sichuan Province, and the location of the Sichuan Buddhist Association and Chengdu Buddhist Association. The Wenshu Academy covers an area of over 200000 square meters, and the existing buildings are typical of the ancient architectural style of the Western Sichuan Plain. They are all wooden buildings, with the six main halls facing the central axis of the mountain gate in sequence, with a grand and magnificent momentum. The Wenshu Academy was first built during the Daye period of the Sui Dynasty and went through various dynasties such as the Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, Yuan, and Ming. It was formerly known as the Xinxiang Academy and Xinxiang Temple, but it was not until after the 36th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1697) that it was renamed as the Wenshu Academy. Yuan Shuoyou, a poet of the Southern Song Dynasty, wrote in a poem titled "Huang Quan's Painting of Flowers at the Xiangsi Temple": Generate and create, seize time, and do one's best to draw pictures. Unfortunately, when spring comes to meet wanderers, there are still no flowers to climb without falling. According to the Chengdu County Annals, in the late Ming Dynasty, the Xinxiang Temple was destroyed by military fire. The buildings were all burned, but only 10 iron cast protective ring deities and two thousand year old ancient cedars survived. From the 36th year of the Kangxi reign to the 45th year of the Kangxi reign (1697-1706), officials, gentry, military, and civilians donated funds to rebuild the temple. During the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods, Master Benyuan, the abbot of the Wenshu Academy, purchased an additional 82 stone pillars, rebuilt and expanded the main hall, forming the current scale. After the founding of the China, the people's government allocated funds for many times to repair temples. In 1983, it was identified by the State Council as a national key Buddhist temple in the Han nationality region. The Peace Cinema, built in 1955, became the most popular place at the North Gate as soon as it opened. At that time, fans and fashion trendsetters in Chengdu also regarded this area as the fashion Weather vane of Chengdu. The lively boys and girls, along with the small stall selling cold noodles, cigarettes, and melon seeds, crowded the steps in front of the cinema. After finally queuing up to buy tickets, entering the cinema is a free time. The cinema accommodates thousands of people and has dozens of rows of seats. Before the performance, as usual, there was a noisy crowd and melon seeds were waiting. Three relatives and six relatives greeted the whole audience. Nowadays, outside the Wenshu Academy, there are numerous small theaters gathered, as well as Chengdu Courtyard, which also receives friends from all over the world. Behind this millennium old temple is the Niangniang Temple on Xima Road Street - rumored to be the Liu Bei Family Temple. Strolling around Manjushri Square, one can still experience the "slow" life in Chengdu, and the street tea houses in Manjushri Square also add some charm to this atmosphere. While admiring Western Sichuan architecture, savor Sichuan cuisine and experience the charm of Zen forest. Funny activities will open up the senses and allow the taste of life to flow naturally. Finally, I use the introductory couplet of the Wenshu Academy as the ending of this video - "What's wrong with doing what you see and then letting go? Wisdom comes from realizing whether you are born in a free life or not?" Do good deeds according to fate, and let go after completing them. Don't think about doing any good deeds in your heart, so that you can eliminate old karma according to fate. Wisdom comes from enlightenment, and enlightenment comes from the freedom of the heart, but these are all inherent in the nature and not born from outside. The first couplet is about "letting go", the second couplet is about "seeing through", and letting go helps to see through, and seeing through also helps to let go. The two are one and two sides. May all officials feel at ease and proud.
