Start with the great Matchless HC-30

Start with the great Matchless HC-30 Just checking some tones on my Strat through different gain stages of pedals in front of my Matchless HC-30 head amplifier. The last bit, is basically just the amp by itself, doing what it does beautifully. Well, it actually is still being slightly pushed with a booster there... 🙂 Love this amp!!! Used my Fender Vintage Hot Rod 62 Stratocaster guitar with Lindy Fralin pickups, in to the great Matchless HC-30 head amplifier, through the Bogner 2x12 large cabinet. This amp is so Dynamic and responsive to touch, that you can use just one of the channels dimed, and change tones by only using your touch, guitar volume, and tone. Nonetheless, in this case I wanted to achieve some different gain stages using pedals in front of a relatively clean amp. Through out the hole recording, the Strymon Blue Sky and Zvex Super Dupduper 2 in 1 were always on and in this order, at the end of the signal chain. To that, and in the following order through the video, I added individually, the Keeley Katana clean boost, then the Fultone OCD, and lastly, the Okko Diablo together with the Strymon El Capistan. From there it went direct into the front end of the amp. Used a three mic combination to record the sound. For close miking I used the Shure SM57 paired with the AT4050ASM Audio Technica microphone on the Bogner 2x12 large cabinet and the DPA IMK4061 Omni mic as room mic. The Shure and the Audio Technica go to the API A2D mic preamp, and then to the Antelope Orion Studio interface. The DPA mic goes direct to the Orion Studio. Audio recorded direct to Protools 12.
