Worm Bin Project for Kids - Worm Castings for Your Garden!

Got bored kids? Today is a great day to make a Worm Bin! Divert your food waste from the garbage and create your own garden amendments at home! Here is what you need: 1) Some sort of container, we used an old plastic tote in this example. 2) A scoop or two of native soil. 3) Send the kids around to find some worms! If it is still cold in your area (I still had frost in the ground) look under a piece of cardboard or plastic that is sitting on soil or lawn. I happened to leave a bag of soil in the lawn and found this handful of worms right up against the plastic in the bottom of the bag...enjoying the heat from today’s sun. 4) Although not mentioned in the video, it is best to keep the bin in a cool location and put some kind of cover on it so it doesn’t dry out. 5) Keep piling your kitchen scraps on top. 6) Over the next few weeks, (as long as you put a handful of worms in to begin with) your worms will magically multiply!
