Police body cam footage captures the deadly shootout involving 40-year-old Michael Kirkland, who opened fire on officers and passing drivers during a high-speed chase and foot pursuit on IH-10 East. Street Crimes Unit officers in Texas attempted to arrest Kirkland, wanted on a warrant for Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant. He fled, crashed into a patrol car, and then into a civilian vehicle before running on foot and firing multiple shots at officers, striking one in the arm. Kirkland continued to flee down a grassy embankment onto Interstate 10, where he aimed and fired his weapon at passing motorists. Officers returned fire, striking and killing him on the highway.
