#Traumatic_reticulopericarditis develops as a result of perforation of the #reticulum by a nail or a peace of wire ingested along with feed by cow Cattle commonly ingest foreign objects, because they do not differentiate metal materials in feed and do not completely masticate feed before swallowing. Etiology when cow ingest any sharp metal material like nail or peaces of wire it trapes in #honeycomb-like reticulum. Contractions of the reticulum promote penetration of the wall by the foreign object. The object penetrate the diaphragm and enter into the thoracic cavity and then into the pericardial sac which is followed by myocardium. clinical findings:The initial penetration of the reticulum is characterized by the sudden onset of #ruminoreticular_atony and a sharp fall in milk production. decreased Fecal out put.mild increase of rectal temp. The heart rate may be normal or slightly increased, and respiration is usually shallow and rapid. Initially, the cow exhibits an arched back; an anxious expression; a reluctance to move; and an uneasy, careful gait Traumatic pericarditis is most commonly characterized by muffled heart sounds;#Jugular_vein distention and congestive heart failure with marked #submandibular and #brisket_edema. Prognosis is grave with these complications. Rx Treatment of the typical cases is surgical. Surgery involves #rumenotomy with manual removal of the object from the reticulum. Thanx for watching
