It is a very hot summer day and the air conditioning is doing a great job keeping our heads cool. We are located in the depot of Winterthur and will soon shunt our train to the platform, where our passengers can board the train and set off on our journey. The S8 connects Winterthur, the second largest city in the canton, with Pfäffikon SZ, right at the shores of Lake Zurich. It is among the longest lines in the ZVV S-Bahn network and spans almost the entire canton of Zurich, from the northeast to the southeast and even leaves into the neighbouring canton Schwyz, which is what the SZ stands for. On our trip, we will cross the city centre of Zurich through the most recent part of the main station, the cross-city link. Sit back, get yourself a refreshing drink and enjoy the ride!
