A full breakdown on creating an Ableton Live set for playing electronic music with a live band, or any kind of music super-tightly with a band, including other musicians such as a drummer. This one's been a long time coming and quite a few people have asked me about this topic in my time as a musician, so I'm happy to present this for anyone looking to do a similar thing! I've used this setup or variations of it for years as my @luotheband project and you can see it in action in the live vids on that channel, as well as some of the live band session vids here on my channel: • Luo - Eldritch Rhythm ft. Adam Znaidi (Liv... • Final Fantasy VII - In Search of the Man i... In this video I talk about a way to bring electronic music to life for gigging it with a band, instead of opting for the route of DJ sets for performing electronic music live. I go through in detail all of the equipment I use, how I set up my software & instruments and how to create an Ableton Live set for you or your band, complete with IEMs (in-ear monitoring) and click tracks. For context, I’m an independent artist, and to be candid I’ve come up with this rig to try and make an affordable & compact version of a stage or tech setup that bigger, professional touring bands would have additional crew members or lots more expensive and space-consuming equipment in order to pull off, instead using (mostly) budget gear, plugins and a bit of Ableton wizardry. If you also want to gig these kind of setups, it’s helpful to minimise the amount of equipment you need to do it, which helps cut down on some logistical and financial difficulties you might encounter as an indie touring artist. There is a lot of capability packed into this comparitively small rig; I personally think a lot of the info in this video could be really helpful for musicians or bands looking to do a similar thing. This is just some of the things this small setup enables me to do: 1. It's my live keyboard & synth rig 2. It's also my live guitar amp & FX pedalboard rig; meaning I don't need to transport heavy amps or pedalboards, taking up less space in a touring vehicle, and also not needing to source or borrow amps from other bands at gigs 3. It's the in-ear monitoring & click track setup for bands (up to 4 people) 4. My live DJ FX platform for real-time FX processing of electronic music or instruments 5. Can easily synchronise to an AV / visuals artist for lighting, projections or visuals that sync to the music in real time 6. Helps me to realise 'expensive' band project ideas on the cheap 7. All of this is in a neat setup with a pretty small stage profile My other vids going into more detail about specific parts of the rig: The Pocket Piano: • Why I Love the Pocket Piano Keyboard & Synth Setups: • Using Ableton as a Live Keyboard Rig • How I Create Synth Sounds as a Self-Taught...
