CHIANG MAI: Why Did I Wait 12 Years?! 🇹🇭 (Part 1: First Impressions & Nightlife)

After living in Thailand for over a decade, I finally did it—I headed North to Chiang Mai for the very first time. To be honest, I was skeptical. I’d heard the conflicting stories about the smog, the pollution, and people told me the nightlife was "boring" compared to Pattaya. Well, I was wrong. In Part 1 of this 3-part series, I take you along for my first 24 hours in the "Rose of the North," and it was a total eye-opener. ✈️ The Journey & The Stay: The trip started with a smooth 1-hour flight and a quick 10-minute hop from the airport to our base for the trip: The Raming Lodge. If you're looking for convenience, this spot is hard to beat. Temple Hopping & City Sights: We didn't waste any time. After checking in, we hit the inner city streets to see the iconic sights: Tha Phae Gate: The famous entrance to the Old City. Wat Muan Lan & Three Kings Monument: Soaking in the history. The Local Markets: Seeing how the North does street food and shopping. Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan: One of the most stunning temples I've seen in Thailand. 🌃 The Nightlife Surprise: This is where I was most shocked. People told me Chiang Mai was quiet—far from it! The bars were packed with energy, the drinks were well-priced, and the girls were incredibly welcoming and interactive. Best of all? Most spots stayed open until 2:00 AM, with a few "hidden gems" going even later. This was a fantastic start to the trip and definitely not what I expected.
