NOTE TO THE WHITE EVANGELICAL PREACHERS: “SPEAK NOW OR FOREVER HOLD YOUR PEACE” - LEST CIVIL WAR!

In this Urgent and Thought-provoking message, we address a Critical Question: What is the Responsibility of white Evangelical preachers in Times of National Division and Political Tension? I. THEOLOGY SCRIPTURE. “But how will people call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how will they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a PREACHER (messenger)? And how will they preach unless they are commissioned and sent [for that purpose]? Just as it is written and forever remains written, ‘HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!’ But they did not all pay attention to the good news [of salvation]; for Isaiah says, ‘LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT?’ So faith comes from hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the [preaching of the] message concerning Christ.” – ROMANS 10:14-17, AMP KEY TERM: “PREACHER.” ‘Kérussó’ [κηρύσσοντος]: Root meaning refers to: “A Herald of Divine Truth (the Gospel); a Town Crier.” ALSO: “To proclaim, publish abroad or announce [widely] ‘Religious Truth’ with its attendant privileges and obligations.” NOTE: Strong’s Greek (2784) (‘kēryssō’) describes: “The Act of Heralding”—Publicly and Authoritatively announcing a Message from the King of Heaven.’ Its sixty-one New Testament appearances trace a redemptive thread: ‘God sends Heralds; the Heralds proclaim His Word; ‘Hearers are summoned to Repent, Believe, and then OBEY.’” QUOTATION. “If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every proportion of the Truth of God except precisely that Little Point which the World and the Devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. WHERE THE BATTLE RAGES, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point." - MARTIN LUTHER, c. 1530 AD COMMENTARY. “There is not one God to the Jews, more kind, and another to the Gentiles, who is less kind; the Lord is a Father to all men. The Promise is the same to all, who Call on the name of the Lord Jesus as the Son of God, as God manifest in the flesh. All believers thus call upon the Lord Jesus, and none else will do so humbly or sincerely. ‘But how should any CALL on the Lord Jesus, the Divine Saviour, who had not HEARD of Him? And what is the life of a Christian but a life of prayer [or sustained conversation with the Lord]? It shows that we feel our Dependence on Him, and are ready to [completely] GIVE UP OURSELVES to Him, and have a Believing Expectation of our ALL from Him.’” – MATTHEW HENRY, Exposition of the Old and New Testaments, 6 vols., 1708-1710; edited II.
