In the village of Lovozero in the Murmansk region, developments are beginning on the last untouched areas of the tundra. Pensioner and honored reindeer herder of the USSR, Semen Galkin, decides to fight for the preservation of the territory necessary to maintain the traditional way of life of the Saami people. Against this backdrop, Semen's family tells the story of the Russian colonization of Saami territories, the depletion of natural resources, and traditional culture, as well as the mass Soviet repression against the Saami people.
