Balasore Victim's Mother Blames College Staff for Harassment, Seeks Justice | News9

Pune | July 14, 2025 A heartbreaking allegation has emerged in the Balasore self-immolation case, as the victim's mother publicly accused the college principal, HoD, and lecturers of mentally harassing and threatening her daughter. The victim, a 20-year-old college student from Balasore, suffered 95% burns and remains critical at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Her mother alleged that the girl was denied entry to her exam hall over an attendance issue on June 30, and after she raised a complaint with ABVP activists and police, the harassment intensified. According to her mother, the college officials pressured her daughter to withdraw the complaint, threatening to fail her and make her repeat the year. These repeated acts of mental trauma allegedly led the young student to attempt suicide on July 12.
