In this video, I show you the arcade games from UPL, as well as a look back at some of their best classics. UPL, a company that, although not as well-known as others, brings back fond memories of the arcades in the early 90s for me. Info: UPL Co., Ltd (株式会社ユーピーエル) short for Universal Play Land, was established in the early 80s as a sales branch of Universal in the Kantō region of Japan. Headquartered in Tochigi Prefecture with development offices in Tokyo. UPL is mainly remembered for its vertical shooting games that required a high level of tactical thinking. Despite its success in the arcades, UPL was slow to enter the console market, releasing its first game for the NES in 1988, and unfortunately, it couldn't keep up with the competition.
