Welcome to the next chapter of my solo motorcycle adventure across America! In this episode, I’m taking you deep into the heart of the South Dakota Badlands, a landscape so surreal it feels like riding on another planet. I explore Badlands National Park via the famous Badlands Loop Road. The Badlands offers some of the most scenic motorcycle routes in the country. This is part of a larger journey where I’m exploring the diverse beauty of the United States, one mile at a time, on two wheels. The first stop is at the famous Wall Drug Store but I quickly make my way to the western edge of the Badlands. After viewing some grazing bison I enter the park and almost immediately am struck by outstanding and epic scenery. The Badlands Loop Road, a 31-mile stretch of road, is a motorcycle dream ride, featuring sharp turns, steep climbs, and jaw-dropping views of the park’s layered rock formations. I’ll take you through the best stops, including the Big Badlands Overlook and Yellow Mounds Overlook, where the colors of the landscape come alive. From the park’s jagged cliffs to its vast prairies, the Badlands offer some of the most photogenic motorcycle routes in the U.S. Riding through the South Dakota Badlands is more than just a scenic trip—it’s a journey through time. The park’s unique geology, shaped by millions of years of erosion, creates a landscape that feels both ancient and alien. The Badlands Loop Road is perfectly suited for motorcycles, with its smooth pavement, thrilling curves, and minimal traffic. Plus, the park’s remote location ensures a sense of solitude and freedom that’s hard to find elsewhere.
