San Diego / Tijuana Our motel was located in a small town south of San Diego called "San Ysidro", we arrived there around 10pm, when we realized we were so close to Mexico we went to the reception desk and we asked how far was the border, the receptionist told us it was 15 minutes walk from the motel! Next morning after a quick dip (as usual) we drove straight to Tijuana, Mexico. We were very exited about it as it wasn't planned at all in our schedule plus we notified a clear difference of atmosphere as soon as we crossed the frontier. We drove around for a little while to get an idea of what it was like and we quickly parked the car in the center and put our skates on. Ben had the great idea of buying wrestling masks so we could get a few clips with them on which actually made me feel very uncomfortable because I thought people/police could interpret it the wrong way but everything went well at the end. We spent the first half of the day skating around town and the second half driving a bit further in the suburbs to seek for exclusive spots, some places were a little rough and dodgy but we did manage to get a few shots at the end. In the evening we went to meet some french and canadian skaters who were in town at that moment, hung out with them for a little while and went back to the motel so we could have enough time in San Diego the next day. On the thursday we drove to San Diego in the morning and visited the town on skates, it is very clean and we got kicked out from a few places but we had fun skating down the famous 'gas lamp district'. The pavements are wide, people drive slowly and it's not so crowded outside so we can call this 'easy freeskate' I guess. After a big meal at a pancake house we went to the beach for the last time in this tour and then hit the road on the way to our last stop: Las Vegas! Greg. www.rollerblade.com
