Agricultural Landscape of Southern Oland - UNESCO World Heritage Site

The UNESCO World Heritage site of the Agricultural Landscape of Southern Oland is on the island of Oland, just off the coast of southern Sweden, where the southern half of the island is home to quite an interesting World Heritage site. Traditionally, Swedish farm houses were packed together in "line villages", where the houses were together and the farmers would work distant fields. In the 19th century, this was changed as the King redistributed lands and the farm houses moved out on to the fields. But in Southern Oland, a large part of the island is unfarmable limestone, so the redistribution was never carried out, making it a small piece of living history. Enjoy!
