Saeed's family in celebrating Yalda Night

Yalda Night, held every year on December 21, is a special time for families in this country to gather and celebrate hope and light. This ancient tradition brings families together around low tables adorned with fruits, nuts, and sweets, while enjoying poetry and stories. Yalda is a Syriac word meaning birthday, and because people have adapted Yalda night with the nativity of Messiah, it's called the name; however, the celebration of Christmas (Noël) established on December 25, is set as the birthday of Jesus. Yalda is the beginning of winter and the last night of autumn, and it is the longest night of the year. In Saeed's family, his children celebrated the festival together in a small gathering. Sethayesh played the role of both older sister and mother to her younger sisters, a role she performed well and naturally. She managed everything according to the traditional customs. Sheida and her friends bought sweets from a small shop in the village for the event. All the siblings, including Sheida's friend, sat in a circle, prayed together, drank sweet drinks, and happily ate fruit and sweets together. This celebration holds many meanings for the family, especially the reunion of Fatima, a two-year-old girl who needs close emotional support, with her father and sisters. The little girl continued to have tantrums while suffering from a cold, but was being held close by her sisters, a scene that was both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. On Yalda Night, Saeed was rarely present to celebrate because he usually had to work in another city. However, all his children understood and were happy to celebrate together as a family. The atmosphere, filled with love and the strong bond between the siblings Setayesh, Niyayesh, Sheida, Sara and Fatima, confirms that the ties of blood and the power of love between father and children are greater than anything else.
