Is Monster Hunter Wilds a worthy successor to World, or does its "weirder" side and graphical presentation hold it back? In this review, we dive deep into Monster Hunter Wilds, exploring the differences and improvements while also highlighting the downright bizarre moments this game offers. We start by examining the graphics, which, while showing unique ideas, unfortunately look a bit worse than Monster Hunter World. We discuss the impact of the RE Engine compared to the MT Framework, and how it affects the open-world experience on consoles, leading to lower resolution, blur, and other visual issues in areas like the vast desert and beautiful jungle with its flickering and bad SSR. However, we also highlight the stunning visuals in later areas like the underground ice caverns and the intense realm of fire. Beyond graphics, we delve into the core gameplay, which truly shines with its deep mechanics and the fantastic addition of the Seekret, a raptor-like mount that significantly speeds up traversal. We also cover the improved multiplayer experience, making it easier than ever to connect with other hunters and start quests. The story in Monster Hunter Wilds takes a more curated approach, almost like a linear open-world, with memorable characters and truly epic moments, like battling giant sandworms in a lightning storm. We also touch upon the game's goofy moments, including a certain farting and burping ape! Finally, we'll answer the big question: Despite the graphics downgrade, is Monster Hunter Wilds still worth the hunt for fans of the series and newcomers alike? My Game Review Scoring System (0-100) I use a weighted scoring system based on 4 key categories to arrive at a final score out of 100: Gameplay (45% of final score): This is the most important aspect, covering game mechanics, controls, fun factor, performance, bugs, level design, and overall gameplay experience. Visuals (30% of final score): Covers graphics quality, art style, visual presentation, environment, and character design. Story (15% of final score): Focuses on narrative, plot, characters, writing, world-building, and story engagement. Sound (10% of final score): Includes music, sound effects, voice acting, and overall audio design. Category Scores (0-100): 90-100: Masterpiece/Exceptional 80-89: Excellent/Outstanding 70-79: Great/Very Good 60-69: Good/Above Average 50-59: Okay/Average Below 50: Below Average to Terrible Final Score Calculation: Each category is scored out of 100, then multiplied by its weight. These weighted scores are added together to get the final score out of 100. More Videos: • GAME GRAPHICS CRISIS! Why New Games L... • Tales of Graces F Remastered Review: ...
