This was an impromptu trip to Darjeeling, where we explored the classic tourist spots especially the eateries! From hunting for books at Granthgar to visiting the serene Japanese Temple, and attending an inspiring seminar, this trip had a little bit of everything. We wandered through Darjeeling’s charming streets, soaked in the stunning monsoon Himalayan views, and shared plenty of laughs along the way. I couldn’t help but miss my school days and my friends. We used to loiter around these streets as schoolgirls, laughing at nothing and everything all at once. The Mall Road, sitting for hours in Chowrasta doing nothing, benis cafe and aloo dum in the benis lane, the road leading to Japanese temple, they are full of memories. Being here now, wandering the same streets, I felt that same carefree joy all over again, it’s funny how some places can make you feel like a kid again. Being with these amazing women felt like therapy. Just talking to them helps me unlearn and relearn things, leading to a kind of healing process. It made me realize how beautiful female friendships truly are, full of support, laughter, honesty, and growth. You can share your fears, dreams, and triumphs without judgment. Somehow, society often paints female friendship in a negative light (as catty, jealous, competitive) but I feel that’s just a narrative designed to keep us from discovering that we don’t actually need men to be happy and fulfilled. Female friendships are empowering, nurturing, and a source of joy that can shape us in ways nothing else can.
