[ 2014 - 07 - 17 ] not 100% primitive, but rather simple... I've been using bamboo shaft for my arrows for 2 or 3 years now. Last time, I bought bamboo shafts spinned 45# 50# and used (and broke) all the shafts that were thick enough to receive standard commercial bullet points. Now I use the remaining thin shafts and no commercial bullet point can easily be installed on them... Didn't try commercial metal inserts because... I wanted to find another method, a cheap method, and a primitive one, if possible. First method : wooden inserts made from wooden plugs, glued with Staghorn sumac resin. Lots of work ... Second method, much easier : using a kind of cement / glue that can be worked into the shape of an arrow point. Not a primitive material... Less resistant than metal, more or less as resistant as wood. The 2 methods give correct arrows (at least for an archer who is not obsessed with precision) for target shooting and 3D shooting (except with tangential shots). They can even occasionaly get stuck in wood without breaking (but the shaft suffers from the shock). As the arrow point is not heavy, the FOC of those arrows is very small, but for some reason the arrows fly correctly. Maybe because they are very long [ 40 inches for a draw length varying between 31 and 33 inches with a KTB ].
