2/13/26 (Osc test) Synthetic Sound Labs 1660 The Matriz Algorithmic Composer + STG soundlabs Oscillator + Waveform LPG + ALM Pamela’s New Workout + Alesis MIDIVERB II + CXM 1978 It always happens like this. We just sold over four racks worth of 5U modules and condensed things down to what feels like the bare minimum, the essentials. And what do you know? Someone listed a pair of STG soundlabs Oscillator modules. I’ve wanted to try these for a long time, as the drift feature is pretty interesting, but also because STG’s stuff always sounds incredible—both before and after the transition into the hyper-real and hauntological American Format enterprise known as muSonics. These Oscillators sound really massive in 32 or 16 feet. The drift feature gives a nice queasy motion. The sync sounds great too. But here, in this first test, it’s just some basic FM, with the SSL 1660 CV out controlling the STG Oscillator’s pitch, and the SSL 1660 audio output FMing the STG Oscillator’s modulation input. The STG saw output is panned left and the SSL 1660 square wave is panned center. Both are gated by the Waveform dual LPG, modulated by the MFB dual ADSR, driven by the ALM Pamela’s New Workout. Reversed reverb from the Alesis MIDIVERB II. Stereo reverb blended on the CXM 1978.
