In this anatomy and physiology lecture, I'll cover the body cavities and membranes. The body is divided into two major cavities: the dorsal and ventral body cavity. The dorsal cavity is smaller and located toward the back of the body, while the ventral cavity is much larger and located toward the front of the body. Quiz: https://www.registerednursern.com/bod... The dorsal cavity contains the cranial cavity, which houses the brain, and the vertebral cavity, which houses the spinal cord. The ventral body cavity contains the thoracic and abdominopelvic cavities. The thoracic cavity contains organs such as the lungs, heart, trachea, esophagus. The thoracic cavity can be broken down into three divisions: the left pleural cavity (contains left lung), the mediastinum (middle part that contains heart, trachea, etc.), and the right pleural cavity (contains right lung). The heart is surrounded by a serous membrane called the pericardium. Inside the pericardium space is the pericardial cavity. The abdominopelvic cavity is inferior to the thoracic cavity, and is separated from it by the diaphragm muscle. The abdominopelvic cavity contains the abdominal cavity, pelvic cavity, and peritoneal cavity. Website: https://www.registerednursern.com/ More Videos: • Dopamine IV Drip Calculation & Nursing Con...
