AWI Merino Lifetime Productivity Project Update

Join Geoff Lindon, AWI Program Manager, Genetics & Animal Welfare Advocacy, for an update on everything we know so far from the AWI Merino Lifetime Productivity (MLP) project. The MLP project is a 10-year industry partnership which used 134 diverse sires, joined 5,700 ewes 4–5 times each, ran five project sites across Australia, and collected over 2,000,000 pieces of data, to build an industry resource for the analysis of lifetime performance – both in terms of productivity and economics. Data collection was completed in August 2024 and that’s when the real fun started! Analysis of those 2,000,000+ pieces of data from diverse sires, ewe bases, environments, and sites is ongoing, but we’re bringing you the completed work as we have it.
