The Center for Violence Prevention at the University of Texas Medical Branch is preventing violence by collaborating with academic, public, and governmental partners to develop and implement evidence-informed screening, prevention, and intervention programs. Their faculty and staff conduct innovative research on all levels of social influence, including the individual, family, school, community, and society. They have developed, adapted, implemented, and evaluated school- and community-based programs to prevent multiple forms of violence, while also engaging in health policy and systems research to study power, influence, and social change. The Center serves as a resource for research, training, and technical assistance for schools, communities, policymakers, and the general public and supports researchers, advocates, practitioners, and policymakers in violence prevention efforts.
