Did you know there are over 700 women mentioned in the Bible? And that over 100 are specifically named in the Bible? According to one author, over seventy-five women in the Protestant Bible speak, with the Shulamite woman from Song of Solomon, Naomi, and Hannah included on the list of ten women who speak the most in the Bible. And Jesus's longest conversation described in the Gospels is with the woman at the well. Many of the Bible's women could be considered heroes: Moses's sister, Miriam; Rahab, who helped the Israelites conquer Jericho; the young widow Ruth, who was devoted to her mother-in-law; Esther, a Jewish queen who prevented the extermination of her people; and Jesus's mother, Mary, who Luke 1:28 describes as the one the angels greeted, saying, "You who are highly favored!"
