I'm Jake Wood, V.P. of our Consumer DIY Sales group. Since 1952 when Mr. Phifer started weaving what was better known as screen wire, our product line has largely expanded not only in the types of materials we offer, but how you buy it. Traditionally, screening was sold through hardware wholesalers who distributed the product to mom-and-pop hardware stores and lumber and building material retailers. Today, the landscape has changed with the growth of the big box stores and online retailers. The local hardware stores are still an important part of Phifer's supply chain to you, the consumer, especially in small or rural areas of our country. You can find many of these companies in the "Where to Buy" section of this site. With the growth of innovative screening products and the wide range of widths and lengths available to you, we understand that all retailers will not be able to stock all Phifer's products. Internet retailers have filled this gap on many items that are not stocked in these stores. Phifer also has a special order program in place with our big box and large wholesale companies, and will ship your screening directly to any hardware retailer through their distribution chain. The one common attribute that every screening item offers is insect protection. The added living space that a screened space can provide offers comfort, a place for pets, a place for kids, or a great venue for entertaining. I will talk briefly about some of Phifer's newest innovative products that are having the most success. These products plus all Phifer retail offerings come in a variety of widths and lengths. BetterVue fiberglass is a high visibility screen for capturing the perfect view. The best way to describe this screening product is that you see the view, but not the screen. BetterVue is now stocked in many retail stores. SeeVue is a high visibility stainless steel mesh product with a black finish that is almost invisible. The product is a perfect choice when a metal screen is needed for the application. PetScreen is a very strong polyester mesh that is perfect for high traffic areas and where pets can come in contact with the mesh. Whether it is a screen door, porch, or window, PetScreen can prevent damage that often occurs with a standard mesh. TuffScreen is also a polyester mesh that is slightly lighter than PetScreen but still very strong. TuffScreen is an excellent product choice for screened porches. SunTex 80 and 90 is a polyester exterior solar screen product that is a tighter mesh than PetScreen. SunTex blocks 80 or 90% of the sun's heat and glare, and is very effective in reducing your energy costs. Super Solar is a fiberglass exterior solar control mesh that blocks 90% of the sun's heat and glare. This mesh is the most readily available solar screen mesh at retail.
