What we have here is a simple 9 to 1 musical interval - the fraction represents a frequency ratio, in other words the higher note is nine times faster or "higher" than the lower note. We then begin to divide these simple frequency ratios first in half, then in thirds, and so on. It creates an interesting "omnibus" sort of progression. The ratios change in the process, as follows: 1:9 1:5:9 3:11:19:27 1:3:5:7:9 5:13:21:29:37:45 3:7:11:15:19:23:27 7:15:23:31:39:47:55:63 1:2:3:4:5:6:7:8:9 Note that even as they change, the "outside" numbers always maintain that 9 to 1 ratio. And that's all the 9th harmonic is - a 9 to 1 frequency ratio. It's almost autumn! About the notation: I’ll go into this more later, but for now the notation system is called the Helmholtz Ellis Just Intonation System and you can read about it here: https://marsbat.space/pdfs/HEJI2_lege... and here: https://marsbat.space/pdfs/notation.pdf About the music: This is a piece in “Just Intonation” and you might call it “Spectralism”. over time I’m planning on covering a lot of stuff about that and microtonality in general but in the meantime, why not check out these resources: / discord https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_in... https://www.kylegann.com/tuning.html https://marsbat.space/pdfs/JI.pdf https://www.plainsound.org/pdfs/HCD.pdf https://www.amazon.com/Harmonic-Exper... https://www.amazon.com/Arithmetic-Lis... https://www.press.uillinois.edu/books...
