This is known as biliary dyskinesia. Biliary dyskinesia causes lower-than-normal gallbladder function. Symptoms can include upper abdominal pain after eating, nausea, bloating, and indigestion. Eating a very fatty meal or going on a junk food binge may trigger symptoms. There are usually no gallstones in the gallbladder with biliary dyskinesia. A non-functional or poorly functioning gallbladder can be detected with a special test called a HIDA Scan which measures gall bladder function. ➡️ GALLBLADDER POLYPS Approximately 95 percent of gallbladder polyps are benign, meaning they are not cancerous. If a polyp has turned cancerous, it usually becomes substantially larger in a 3-6 month time frame. Some doctors recommend the gallbladder be removed if a polyp is greater than 0.4 inches in size because of the risk it may turn cancerous. This is usually not necessary. It’s best to just keep monitoring polyps with ultrasounds and in the meantime, follow the healthy diet guidelines in our videos and our book, Save your Gallbladder Naturally and what to do if you have already lost it. The supplements Livatone Plus and N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) can improve bile quality and reduce polyps. NAC (n-acetyl cysteine) is a very useful supplement for gallbladder polyps because it enables your liver to produce glutathione. Glutathione is a powerful detoxifier and anti-inflammatory agent. You want as much of this as possible if you are trying to heal a polyp. Taking an ox bile supplement is also helpful because it increases the amount of bile salts in the gallbladder and reduces bile sludge. ➡️ GALLBLADDER CANCER Cancer can occur in the gallbladder or bile ducts. This is called cholangiocarcinoma. Factors that increase your risk are gallbladder polyps, cysts in the bile ducts (choledochal cysts) and a calcified gallbladder (also known as porcelain gall bladder). Chronic infection with parasitic liver flukes can cause gallbladder and bile duct cancer. Fluke infection can be cured with the drug triclabendazole. It is easy for cancer of the gallbladder to grow undetected as there may be no symptoms. When symptoms occur, they can include bloating, abdominal pain, itchiness, and fever.
