On 31 August 2025, a powerful earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan, severely impacting the provinces of Kunar, Nangarhar, Nuristan, and Laghman. Kunar Province, particularly Norgal and Chapa Dara districts, was among the hardest hit. Entire villages were destroyed, critical infrastructure was damaged, and thousands of families were displaced. More than 2,200 people lost their lives, over 3,600 were injured, and nearly 500,000 people were affected. This video highlights the story of Abdul Manan, a resident of Katar village in Norgal District, Kunar Province, and the head of a household of ten, including eight children. His home was severely damaged by the earthquake, forcing his family to live in extremely harsh outdoor conditions. As a daily wage laborer with no stable income, Abdul Manan is struggling to meet his family’s basic needs during this critical time. ADRA Afghanistan is responding to the needs of earthquake-affected communities by providing humanitarian assistance and supporting the most vulnerable families.
