An airport without planes, blank billboards, strip malls and gas stations empty, Harrah's mothballed for the last 7 years, the Tunica Roadhouse under the wrecking ball now, trashy parking lots, burned out lights on marquees, poor roads, closed museums and a host of other dismal conditions. I spent a lot of time there in 1998, 1999 and 2000 and it seemed like the fun would never end. I was through the area 8 years ago and the area looked different, but nothing like it does today. Mega motels are shuttered, RV parks are closed and basic maintenance isn't done anymore.
