Poinciana (Song Of The Tree) (Bernier-Simon) by David Rose & his Orchestra This lush orchestral number was recorded at the same July 1942 session as the Rose standard “Holiday For Strings” and released on Victor 27888 to limited response. Early in ’44, as Victor continued to wait out the musicians strike, they reissued “Poinciana” on Victor 20-1554 and saw it rise as high as #11 on the weekly juke box rankings. Bing Crosby’s top-selling version is also posted.
