Pink Floyd live at the Los Angeles Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California on April 26th, 1975. This is the 2021 Sigma release "Ultimate Millard", later revised in 2022 by buffalofloyd. Originally recorded by Mike Millard, this show is one of the most excellent audience recordings of Floyd available, and as many of you may already know, Millard's recording has been remastered by Steve Wilson for the Official 50th Anniversary release of Wish You Were Here. Thank you Millard, I truly cannot think of any other live bootleg that deserves this treatment. Track listing: 0:00 - Millard Mic Test 0:04 - Introduction 3:39 - Raving And Drooling 17:18 - You Gotta Be Crazy 32:35 - Shine On You Crazy Diamond (1-5) 45:08 - Have A Cigar 49:41 - Shine On You Crazy Diamond (6-9) 1:03:11 - Speak To Me 1:09:19 - Breathe 1:12:08 - On The Run 1:16:43 - Time 1:22:08 - Breathe (Reprise) 1:23:11 - The Great Gig In The Sky 1:29:18 - Money 1:37:23 - Us And Them 1:45:14 - Any Colour You Like 1:53:53 - Brain Damage 1:57:34 - Eclipse 1:59:43 - Soundcheck 2:01:46 - Echoes Information about the audio and its source(s): Pink Floyd "Ultimate Millard [Sigma 286]" date/venue: 1975-04-26 Los Angeles Sports Arena, Los Angeles, California original source/lineage: audience / original silver cd's -- EAC -- wav -- TLH -- flac new source/lineage: audience / original silver cd's -- EAC -- wav -- TLH -- flac -- AudioMuxer 0.9.6.4 (join flacs) -- iZotope RX 9 Advanced Audio Editor* -- wav -- TLH -- flac patch a piece of HAC & ACYL from "Definitive Millard [Sigma 228]" delete a small repeated section between the end of disc 2 "Eclipse" and beginning of disc 3 "Audience/MC" & combined them for seamless listening notes: I'll try to keep this brief. JEMS transferred Mike Millard's genuine Master Cassettes in 2020. Mike Millard Master Cassettes (TDK KR90) -- Nakamichi CR-7A (azimuth adjustment; Dolby Off) -- Sound Devices USBPre 2 -- Audacity 2.0 capture -- iZotope RX6 -- iZotope Ozone 6 -- Audacity - TLH -- FLAC Very nice transfer and has better fidelity than the 1st gens doing the rounds for quite some time. However, there are a couple drawbacks. The first of which is that the Master has some slight degradation in spots, particularly the beginning of "Speak to Me" and "Breathe". There is also some degradation on the 2nd half of ACYL, after the tape flip. The other issues are unavoidable as there is a tape flip during HAC where we completely miss the verse "We're just knocked out, we heard about the sell out, you gotta get an album out, you owe it to the people, we're so happy we can hardly count". Finally, we have the tape flip in ACYL. Sigma did a nice job on their last release (Definitive Millard [Sigma 228]) to mitigate the tape flip issues, so much so I wanted to use them in this release. I'm not sure why Sigma didn't employ the same corrections on this release as their last, it's anybody’s guess. So, to sum up what Sigma corrected and what I've "corrected" or changed for this version is as follows. Sigma: patch in the 1st gen for tape degradation in Speak to Me at 00:35.834 - 00:54.533 & again at 06:02.943 patch continues into Breathe until 00:24.940 patch in the 1st gen for 2nd half of ACYL starting at 04:59.891 till about 08:32.311 (it's pretty seamless so I'm not 100% sure) Me: delete some dead space rectify a several clicks I found while going through the recording, I really hope there aren't any left!!! patch in HAC from "Definitive Millard [Sigma 228]" from 02:08.693 - 02:13.413, really nice job here maintaining the beat for continuity patch in ACYL from "Definitive Millard [Sigma 228]" from 04:58.790 - 04:59.851, also a smoother transition from the tape flip, keeping time better, subjective of course deleted a small repeated section at the end of disc 2 "Eclipse" that faded out and the beginning of disc 3 "Audience/MC" that faded in, combined them for a more seamless listen Pretty sure that is it. These "fixes" are subjective but I like this a lot more now. Enjoy! -buffalofloyd 2022-02-21 Y!
