On, October 21, 2016, Venkat Viswanathan, Carnegie Mellon assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering, gave a tutorial on "The Fundamentals of Batteries." His presentation was featured at the 2nd Annual Electrochemical Energy Symposium held at CMU. This 1.5-day symposium aimed at educating on fundamental aspects of electrochemical energy storage and conversion and featured a series of tutorial talks and technical talks from professors, students and postdoctoral researchers. The symposium, which was held at CMU in the Scott Institute for Energy Innovation, brought together researchers in energy storage and conversion from CMU, University of Pittsburgh, University of California Berkeley, Brown University, University of Notre Dame and more.
