Workum, October 30, 2022 Skate blog: 'Frisian Elfmerentocht' In preparation for the Elfstedentocht in January 2023, Frans invited us to ride the Frisian Elfmerentocht...In the middle of autumn. Crazy work you would think... We had planned two dates, if it rains and blows heavily on the first scheduled day, we will ride the next scheduled day. That first planned day was only in two weeks.... On Tuesday afternoon an app appeared from Frans...The weather forecast for the weekend. Spring, sun, almost windless...or everyone could and wanted to drive on Sunday. I had a reservation because of my back, but Wednesday's test ride went pretty well. So on Sunday at 4:30 am out of bed, stuff in the car and on my way to Friesland. What a day it has become! Exactly at sunrise we drove off and exactly at sunset we were back and we could eat the Chinese. Great riding in shorts and short sleeves. Unimaginable happiness...the feeling of freedom in the wide Frisian environment.
